Downtown Austin is home to the most expensive apartment rent in Texas. That’s according to Rent Cafe and their sister firm Yardi Matrix who track such things. Business and Intelligence Director Doug Ressler said the millennials moving here for the high paying tech jobs are what’s driving this.Austin’s downtown or 78701 has the most expensive rent in the state at, $2658 dollars per month. Ressler added other Austin zip codes are following suit and points to the old Mueller airport as a very hot among renters.
Ressler believes Austin has taken a dramatic turn in the second quarter and sees the market really starting to accelerate.
