Challenger vying for Texas AG still believes an upset is possible

Justin Nelson, an Austin-based attorney, still believes he has a shot to unseat Ken Paxton, who has had securities fraud charges hanging over his head for three years now, saying that Paxton is the first statewide official to run for re-election while being under indictment for fraud.

Nelson has criticized Paxton for flying the Republican flag, which Nelson believes is not the role of an Attorney General.  With the exception of Beto O’Rourke, Nelson has proven to be the most financially competitive challenger on the democrat side this election.

The most recent UT/Texas Tribune poll, however, still shows him trailing Paxton by 12-percent.
