Austin Police Chief Brian Manley says they need more witnesses to an late night arrest after video of the suspect getting punched in the face while he was on the ground went viral. The Chief says 23-year-old Justin Grant was armed with a knife, made threats against a bar’s staff, and was wrestled to the ground after he resisted officers attempts to detain him.
Given the circumstances, he adds, the officers actions were justified under APD policy. Manley says the investigation continues and the whole incident is being reviewed.
