A new shelter for homeless families is under construction in east Austin by the Salvation Army. Deputy Development Director Jan Gunter says they’re aggressively trying to end the family homeless crisis with more than just shelter beds, they’re laying the foundation complete with prayer cards from staff, donors and supporters.
The new shelter when it opens early next year will add 200 more beds to the 300 they already have at max capacity.
