You might see some people taking over a parking space or two around town one day next week but not have their car in it. The City of Austin’s Transportation Department encourages you to participate in the annual (PARK)ing Day, where parking spaces get transformed into parklets. Right-Of-Way Supervisor Paloma Amayo-Ryan said you need to get a permit from them first.
You must get a permit from the Transportation Department first and the deadline is September 17th.
(PARK)ing Day is the third Friday in September.
