Del Valle ISD will have its grand opening of Newton Collins Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 18, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Easton Park community.

The new state-of-the-art campus features over 99,000+ square feet with a classroom capacity of 800 students and a capacity of 1,000 students with its total core (library, gym and cafeteria). The building design provided flexibility for future academic needs, a commons area that supports student engagement and common activity area with exterior and interior windows that bring natural lighting.

Classrooms will be arranged in “neighborhoods” featuring three main sections: Fourth and Fifth grade Neighborhood, Second and Third Grade Neighborhoods and Pre-K through First Grade Neighborhood.
Newton Collins Elementary was inspired by nature with each neighborhood identified by a unique nature-theme and color. The “Stream of Learning” neighborhood features blue accents and rippling textures to represent water. The “Knowledge of Rocks” uses orange to signify stones and the “Woods of Wisdom” exemplifies its wood-theme.

The campus was designed by O’Connell Robertson Architects.
