Texas Republicans continue their sweep in a new state-wide election poll while President Trump’s approval rating takes a hit with 52{d9298e16fbff8ff2d9e84a8934eb00b21cf3ccd1154c522a6781c70a3ad80f68} of Texans disapprove, but 85{d9298e16fbff8ff2d9e84a8934eb00b21cf3ccd1154c522a6781c70a3ad80f68} of Republicans do approve.
Texas Republicans should be very happy with the new poll results, but Lyceum Pollster Joshua Blank said there’s still some work to do if they hope to keep up the 24 year sweep. Blank admits the close Cruz/O’Rourke poll may be an aberration.
Governor Abbott’s 16-point lead over Democrat Lupe Valdez may help out down ballot Republicans according to Rice University Political Scientist, Mark Jones. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’ has a 9 point lead over challenger Mike Collier. Attorney General Ken Paxton’s sitting on a 10 point lead on Justin Nelson.
