CodeNEXT opponents want to keep the issue front and center as Austin’s mayor Steve Adler’s job and several council seats are up for grabs.
Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder sued the city to get the land use rules re-write on the November ballot and won. He says now it’s down to educating voters because CodeNEXT is just more institutional racism.
He expects CodeNEXT to be an issue for all campaigns. Mayoral candidate Laura Morrison opposition to CodeNEXT is a focal point of hers.
