City of Austin Officials say if local covid 19 related hospitalizations reaches 20 a day, they may slow reopenings.
By the numbers Austin Public Health said the area has reported 8-10 new hospitalizations every day since the end of March, yielding so called stage three restrictions which are active today. Austin’s Mayor Steve Adler said if they reach stage four, which starts at 20 daily hospitalizations, he believes you’ll see action from the City, County, and Texas state government as that rate would soon overwhelm hospitals abilities to serve.
Furthermore, Adler continued, if the city did hit 20 hospitalizations a day, he’d expect residents would follow the city’s lead and further limit interactions outside even going so far as to limit trips to the store and nixing any unnecessary movements.
