The Austin area health Authority said if University of Texas researcher are correct, the Covid 19 death rate less than a percent.
At a Q&A session, Health Authority Dr. Mark Escott told reporters UT researchers believe the local total infection count is much higher than what city health leaders are seeing and reporting. They believe it could be as much as 7 to 8 times the official count.
Escott explained this could be good news. He said health officials are confident in the area’s count of those hospitalized and killed by covid 19. So paired with UT’s belief, that would mean the local death rate is much smaller, going from 1.7% to about 0.2% or 0.3%.
