A Sad Reminder We Are Still in a Pandemic

With news today of the NFL postponing the Steelers-Titans game until either Monday or Tuesday, due to a covid outbreak in the Titans organization. It’s just another sad reminder, in a long list of reminders, that we are still in this pandemic, and not even sports can be immune to it.

Not a ton more info about Titans outbreak, five staff members tested positive, as well as three players were added to the covid-IR. Head Coach Mike Vrabel said they all experienced “flu-like symptoms”.

Another large reminder is the NFL’s harsh commitment to teams about wearing masks, especially coaches on the sidelines during games. Six coaches have already been fined for not wearing their masks enough, on the sidelines during the games — Kyle Shanahan, Sean Mcvay, Pete Carroll, Jon Gruden, Sean Payton, and Vic Fangio.  And after two warnings, it sounds like the NFL is fed up.

Troy Vincent, the Executive Vice President of Football Operations sent out another “strong-worded” memo to all teams after the NFL had to dish out more fines to coaches for not wearing masks.

Not only are the fines harsh; $100,000 to the individual and another $250,000 fine against the team. The new memo says the league will “address lack of compliance with accountability measures that may include…suspensions and/or forfeiture of draft picks.” Ouch.

WEAR A DANG MASK, COACHES!

One day we are all going to look back at this time and realize how much stronger we are as individuals for going through this pandemic… or we are going to cry our eyes out, either way, both are legit emotional responses.  In any case, we are still in this pandemic and these harsh reminders won’t be going away anytime soon, so again, coaches… wear a dang mask and lets keep these players as safe as possible so there are no more postponements!
