Childcare providers in Austin can soon begin applying for grant funding as part of the $5 million Austin Childcare Provider Relief Grant. Up to $60,000 in grants per site are being offered to cover operating expenses for centers that offer full-day childcare to ages five and under.
To be eligible, a provider must be able to demonstrate an economic loss directly related to COVID-19 and must be located in an Austin council district.
“Ensuring childcare providers have the resources to remain open and serve local families is a critical part of our City’s ability to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” explains Veronica Briseño, Austin’s Chief Economic Recovery Officer. “Eligible childcare providers, whether operating a center-based or home-based program, can request up to $60,000 per site to cover immediate needs. These grant dollars can be applied to payroll, rent relief, operational costs, and other eligible COVID-19 related expenses.”
Applications will be accepted December 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. – January 15, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at www.ATXrecovers.com
