Arrest made in East Austin shooting of teenage driver

An arrest is made in the shooting death of a teenager found in a car in East Austin.

Austin police arrested Frank Williams, 53, for shooting Ehh Tee Cha, 19 last Thursday.

APD officials say they were called to an area near the Travis County Expo Center last week by a woman who said her boyfriend had been shot. Responding officers found Cha unresponsive in the drivers seat of a car. The cops pulled Cha from the vehicle and then saw he had been shot several times.

The Police tried to save Cha’s life as Austin Travis County EMS teams rushed to the scene, but Cha was declared dead alittle after 3 that morning.

Through their interviews with witnesses and the investigation, Detectives learned, the suspect, Williams, did not get away from the shooting scott free. A friend of the victim, ended up hearing the gunfire coming from within Cha’s vehicle and shot at Williams. The suspect was found at an area front porch and taken to the hospital.

Williams remains in serious condition.
