Texas Basketball Got A Lot Better Over The Weekend

Chris Beard is sure making a big impact, very quickly on the forty acres.

Saturday, Longhorn Basketball added a big piece to their 2022 class as 4-5 Star (depending who you ask) PG Arterio Morris chose Texas over Kansas, Oregon, and Georgia. Morris had recently de-commited from his “dream school” the University of Memphis. Credit Chris Beard’s relationship with Morris in his Texas Tech days.

247 Sports details Morris as an elite prospect who could potentially be the best player in the 2022 class.

Not to be outdone just a few hours later, and confirmed by Chris Beard himself today, that Marcus Carr, a transfer from Minnesota, has signed a scholarship agreement to play for Texas next season. Carr started every game the last two years for the Golden Gophers; he averaged 17 points per game, 5.8 assists and had 348 total assists compared to 150 turnovers, good for a 2.32 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Marcus Carr spent his Freshman season at Pittsburgh where he led the team in assists and steals, and was third on the team in scoring.

These two may not cross paths on the court, but it’s clear Chris Beard’s presence on the Forty Acres is making a big difference in the early goings of his tenure.

HOOOOOOOKEM!
