33 Homeless People Moved from Longhorn Dam Camp

The City of Austin has announced the colsure of a homeless camp in a high-flood risk area east of the Longhorn Dam. A total of 33 homeless people, along with approximately six pets, were relocated to the city-owned Northbridge shelter as part of the Housing-Focused Encampment Assistance Link Initiative.

An extensive cleanup process is underway that will take several weeks. T

The Austin City Council approved the HEAL Initiative in February 2021. Since it began in June of 2021, the city says 694 homeless people have moved to the Northbridge shelter.
