The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has located the black Jeep Grand Cherokee that was registered to Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, an Austin woman accused of shooting and killing Anna Moriah Wilson, 25, at a home in East Austin in May. Wilson, a Vermont native, was known as an up-and-coming player in the world of competitive cycling and was in Austin at the time for a race.
Investigators with the task force learned that Armstrong sold the vehicle on May 13 to a CarMax dealership in south Austin for $12,200 dollars. Armstrong was provided a check from the dealership just one day after being questioned by Austin authorities. She fled the city by catching a flight to New York out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on May 14.
The U.S. Marshals Office has elevated the case to a “Major” case and is offering a reward of up to $5,000 in addition to a $1,000 cash reward by the Capital Area Crime Stoppers for information leading to her arrest. An anonymous donor is also contributing up to $15,000, bringing the total combined reward of up to $21,000.
Police responding to a call at the East Austin residence discovered Wilson bleeding and unconscious from multiple gunshot wounds. They performed CPR on her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Armstrong is white, stands 5 feet 8 inches and weighs approximately 125 pounds. She has light brown long, curly hair and hazel eyes and was last seen on surveillance video wearing a blue denim jacket, black shirt with a pink design on the chest, white jeans, black and white tennis shoes, a black COVID mask, and a possible yoga mat carrier on her shoulders. Officials also believe Armstrong may be armed and dangerous.
