The Austin Independent School District will decide on a name change for another of its campuses Monday night as the debate over Reagan High School comes to a close.
The campus was flagged by a district task force as one that needed a change due to the fact that its namesake, John H. Reagan, was the postmaster general for the Confederacy.
The two finalist names to replace Reagan are Barack H. Obama High School or Northeast High School.
If the change is approved, Reagan will become the first AISD high school campus to be renamed. However, three other campuses have already been changed: Fulmore Middle School, Allan Elementary, and Robert E. Lee Elementary.
The renaming is not expected to receive much pushback from board members.
