El Patio on Guadalupe will close for good August 9th. The Joseph family who opened and ran the tex-mex joint since 1954 says they’re retiring. Many local restaurants and businesses have shut down due to rising taxes and other costs.
Shock, surprise and sadness follows as news of the iconic Austin Restaurant, El Patio, is shutting down August 9th. Dee Wood said she’s been coming to El Patio for years. Wood also mentions that the food and service is always good, the people are always wonderful. She hopes a high-rise is not put in their place.
Other customers compared the impending closure an end of an era.
The Joseph Family say they are retiring and the closure has nothing to do with costs.
