On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at approximately 3:13 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to a call reporting a possible explosive device in the 2400 block of Vintage Stave Road.
The APD Bomb Squad and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives responded and processed the scene.
After further investigation, it was determined that the only way to safely detonate some of the explosive material was for it to remain inside the residence. Residents in the area were evacuated.
On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the material was detonated, and the scene is now safe. There was major damage to the home that contained the explosive materials and minor damage to the house next door.
This remains an ongoing investigation. One person was detained.
