Austin police have made an arrest in a shooting on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in Capital Plaza, which is in the 5300 block of N. I-35.
The incident began with a report of an active shooter in the area, with callers to 911 reporting a man firing a handgun in the parking lot. Upon arrival, police found Hunter Rouse, who was reportedly armed with a .40 caliber handgun. Rouse was arrested and no injuries were reported.
In a police report, a woman said Rouse robbed her at gunpoint at a nearby Walgreens. Another man said Rouse fired his gun at him several times at a McDonald’s, then sped away. And a third witness said she saw Rouse pointing the weapon at the occupants of a black SUV before he began firing, but no one was hit by his gunfire.
Rouse is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
