The Austin Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting on Tuesday involving multiple people. According to reports, police got multiple calls about gunfire coming from the 1100 block of Ebert Avenue, near Givens Park, and upon arrival were met with a chaotic scene of people fleeing on foot and by vehicle.
“As officers arrived on scene, we locate multiple victims, at least two of which were transported to a local area hospital by Austin-Travis County EMS,” said Officer Michael Bullock.
One person checked into a hospital on their own.
“At this point in time, we’re only aware of three victims specifically related to this incident, but the exact count we haven’t yet determined,” Bullock said Tuesday morning.
Police later arrested four people in a traffic stop, and an additional person who fled the scene on foot.
The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
