Austin’s Mayor Steve Adler is very hesitant to endorse any return of the private sector just yet. Governor Greg Abbott will soon issue an order to begin the process, so Adler is trying to get the word out that you won’t have to go back if you don’t want to. He said, “I hope that we come up with an incentive, so that workers don’t feel like they have to go to work if they are not feeling well. Which means sick leave.”
He said the city can’t fully plan for the next steps until Abbott makes his full announcement, which is expected next week.
