The Austin Animal Center is at crisis-level capacity, according to a memo sent to city leaders. The shelter says every kennel is full and many of those kennels are now housing two dogs each. Shelter officials worry they will have to resort to euthanasia as more dogs and cats arrive. All adoption fees are currently being waved. If you find a stray dog, you’re being asked to hold onto it for awhile until shelter space is available.
.@austinanimals is FULL + staff have had to double-up dogs in each suite.🐶 Maintaining a No Kill shelter requires support from the entire community—we are asking anyone who can to step up + help us with this challenge.
