Austin bar industry elated as Austin FC opens up games to 100% Capacity

Rendering of the new Austin FC stadium

Austin’s Bar and tourism scene is celebrating as Austin FC announces it’s Q2 stadium will operate at 100% capacity for it’s inaugural home game. For some bar’s the team has been packing their halls with fans during the away games.

B.D Riley’s Irish Pub at Mueller co-owner Steve Basile says Austin FC has already been filling bar stools during away games. “we’re literally at capacity by kickoff every single match, and these fans are ardent, they are ready for some football.”

Other Austin bars say they have not seen a consistent level of fans per game like Basile’s bar. Sarah Miller with Haymakers and Black Sheep Lodge says, they haven’t seen regular level of fan foot traffic. “For the first couple of [games] it was packed, now some of the watch groups are going to more outdoor spaces where they can really use their musical instruments to get their fans amped up.”

Even so, Miller thinks fans will return in full force, when Austin FC plays on its home turf, June 19th.
