On Thursday, the Austin City Council gave approval for a shift to low-carbon concrete. It’s part of the council’s ongoing focus on environmental issues. The move will begin the transition toward the use of low-carbon concrete for all future construction projects.
The measure also now requires all concrete producers working with the city to submit Environmental Product Declarations – documents that provide data on the environmental sustainability of their product.
Council also passed a largely symbolic resolution that calls on Congress to approve a multi-year authorization for the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.
