Austin FC to break ground at McKalla Place Sept 5th

Austin FC is set to break ground on its MLS Stadium at McKalla Place in two-weeks. Team President Andy Loughnane said, they are expected to turn dirt September 5th. Construction is expected to last around 18 months and the stadium be ready foam/99.7fm the April 2021.

While Austin FC was still fighting to come to Austin, the team received feedback and pushback from area neighborhoods fearing what a event center like an MLS stadium would mean for are traffic and street side parking. The Team’s lawyer Richard Suttle explained as per their agreement with the city “[They&#93 are contributing towards a better bus stop situation… and then we are working with Capital Metro right now, along with other people in the area about the potential for a train stop here at the stadium.” Suttle continued, Austin FC is talking with the city about their future plans for the roadway, infrastructure, what’s going on. We’re doing an inventory of parking spaces available in the area, an inventory of sidewalks and then what we’ll do… is we got a traffic engineer and he’ll tell us how best to move people.”
