Many COVID-19 dashboards are now available online for Central Texas school districts.

They include data such as new positive cases, new exposures, as well as cumulative numbers. Seeing the numbers climb among school district is no doubt a concern for parents, but Travis County Health Authority Mark Escott is offering up some peace of mind, “We don’t have any evidence now that in person classrooms are where the disease is spreading.”

But the cases are spreading nevertheless, and Escott believes it’s in social settings. He’s pushing for districts to perform proactive testing for students, in extracurricular activates where masks and social distancing just aren’t possible.
