Austin ISD parents say the sex ed curriculum will bring problems

AISD SEX ED PROTESTS

While supporters are celebrating Austin ISD’s new sex ed curriculum, opponents believe this will spell more problems for the district.

AISD Parents like Jorge Ordonez said the district already has a problem losing students, and the new sex ed classes aren’t helping. [TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH TO ENGLISH BY KLBJ’S ROBBIE RUIZ] “The Hispanic parents are looking into ways to pull their kids out of Austin ISD. They’re leaving in an exodus like manner. And looking into other options such as charter schools, or relocating them to to places like Kyle, Buda, or Boca Radonda. This is only exacerbates the problem.”

Opponent to the changes, Texas Values VP David Wells says his family has already pulled his kids from AISD and beleives he is not the only one. “We would encourage folks to take a look at that.” He said families should also look into the opt out option and fully understand their rights as parents.

President of Texas Values Jonathan Saenz also gave the district a warning the night they passed the sex ed changes, a lawsuit could be coming. “Lawsuits that are risky cost taxpayer dollars, and I tell you, my team and I, we have experience we’ve taken on ISD before in this city, and we have won.”
