The Austin school board will meet this evening and could vote to eliminate 200 employee positions. The move would be in anticipation of an enrollment decline this fall of as many as 3000 students. Teachers are not expected to be part of the layoffs, however some may be reassigned to other campuses. AISD thinks it could save $10-million.
