Education Austin isn’t completely against the idea of school campus closures and repurposings.
As Austin ISD looks deeper into closing and repurposing schools and buildings, Education Austin’s Ken Zarifis said the district needs to build up some community trust if they want any success. He also mentioned AISD should respect the community enough to let people know exactly what’s going on.
Another way to build that community trust Zeriffis also suggests, is by investing more into employee pay thereby building safe and stable schools.
If AISD doesn’t find some trust, Zarifis believes the community will only come out to shoot proposals down.
