An Austin man is behind bars after the Hays County Sheriff’s Office say he vandalized Carpenter Hill Elementary School in Buda last week.
James Michael Kerr, 25, is accused of destroying numerous windows, computers and other items on the campus including an antique carrousel horse after he allegedly used a fire extinguisher in the school library. Hays CISD offcials estimate the total damages to rage between $150,000 and $300,000.
Kerr faces felony burglary, arson and criminal mischief charges. Police have not determined a motive or connection to the school but the investigation is ongoing.
