Following a busy October in which the 13th-busiest day in history was recorded, officials Monday released the latest snapshot of passenger traffic for the entire month of September at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
For the month, passenger traffic grew 190.2-percent compared to September 2020, with 1,201,339 passengers making their way into and out of Austin. Major airlines such as Delta and United saw increases of well more than 200-percent from the previous year, as did smaller airlines such as Allegiant and Jet Blue.
Cargo traffic also saw an uptick, albeit much smaller than for passengers. For September 2021, nearly 21,500,000 tons of cargo found its way through Austin. In September 2020, that number was .6-percent lower.
The year-to-date numbers also reflect a continued rebound. Total passenger traffic for January – September 2021 was 8,862,301, up 79.4-percent compared to January – September 2020.
