Austin continued to lead the State of Texas in population growth, and with that has come a robust job creation. Local economist Angelos Angelou said wages are also on the rise, but he said they are not keeping pace with what people need to feel comfortable on a monthly basis. He also said some of the growth and wages cannot keep up with the city’s cost of living.
Angelou said employers are having a tough time filling their payrolls because of a skills gap that has left them unable to find the kind of talent they’re seeking.
