Right now, “The Independent” is the tallest building in the Austin skyline, but that could be changing soon.
According to the Austin Business Journal, a Dallas-based real estate firm wants to construct a 50-story tower called “The Travis,” which would be the tallest building in the Rainey Street area.
“The Travis” will be located at the old site of “Villas on Town Lake” and will be a 414 unit apartment building.
If the city gives its approval, developers hope construction could begin as early as next month.
