Austin's new proposed budget once again rivals that of larger neighbor, San Antonio

The latest proposed City of Austin budget isn’t sitting well with taxpayer advocates. Roger Falk with the Travis County Taxpayers Union points to the fiscal philosophical diffences between Austin and San Antonio.

That budget would see the average Austin homeowners tax bill jump by nearly a hundred bucks. Homelessness spending would nearly double with the new proposed, Roger Falk also mentions that uncontrolled spending isn’t what’s going to fix homelessness.  Falk blames the homelessness crisis on poor policymaking on the part of City Council.

The proposed Austin budget would raise taxes for homeowners by about $100 and double funding for homelessness programs.
