Since the City of Austin relaxed enforcement of homeless ordinances, there has been a major spike in calls to 3-1-1. There has been a 460-percent increase in calls from June 20 to August 29 compared to the same period last year.

5. JOBS, JOBS, JOBS IN CENTRAL TEXAS
New numbers from the Fed show several Texas Counties among the fastest growing for jobs and wages from March of last year to this year.
Economist Dr. Ray Perryman says the most growth was in the oil patch around Midland/Odessa.
“Central Texas did very well,” Perryman says. “Williamson County was on the list, and that’s obviously not surprising. Williamson County is on a lot of these ‘fastest-growing lists.’”
What does surprise Dr. Perryman, he saYs, is that Travis County showed up at number 15, as it takes a lot of jobs to make that great of a percentage difference in the stats.
