Banking flood waters could help in time of drought

A way to help better manage waters for times of flood and drought is studied by University of Texas geoscientists. Bridget Scanlon is a researcher with the UT Bureau of Economic Geology and says the floodwaters that overflow onto Texas rivers could be stored in depleted aquifers.

Scanlon says their research shows that 65 percent of the high flows could be captured and that would create underground water reserves about the size of Lake Mead.
