Barry Soaks New Orleans, Trump Backs Off Citizenship Question, Austin Cleans Underpasses

Tropical Storm Barry’s wind and rain began hitting parts of Louisiana as New Orleans and coastal communities braced for a drenching from what could be the season’s first hurricane.

Trump pulls back on the Citizenship question on the US Census…rather he has order all government agencies…to compile the data on citizenship.

Texas ranks high on CNBC’s annual list of the top states in the nation for business.  Texas is number two on the list, only behind Virginia.  CNBC says it bases its rankings on nearly a dozen different categories including economy and overall cost of doing business.

Precourt Sports Ventures President Dave Greeley says construction of the new Major League Soccer stadium in North Austin is still on schedule to begin in September.  Greeley has shared some preliminary site plans for McKalla Place, which include affordable housing units and access to a new Capital Metro bus station.  The final site plan still needs approval from the city.

Homeless camp cleanups are getting underway for the first time since the City of Austin loosened homeless ordinances.  Trash, debris, and other items have been cleared from an underpass near 183 and Ohlen Road this week.  Along with dumpsters and recycle bins, the city says there is also a plan to provide lockers and storage areas for homeless people to put their possessions.
