A bill that would legalize medical cannabis was passed overwhelmingly in the Texas House.

The legislation now goes to the Senate where its passage is not assured.

State Rep Eddie Lucio III’s bill would expand the compassionate use act allowing cannabis for conditions like post traumatic stress disorder, cancer, autism, neurological conditions, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons.

State Rep Eddie Lucio III‘s bill would also establish a Medical Cannabis review board to spearhead research.

Lucio knows getting the bill signed into law is an uphill battle.

“The top leadership in our state is very conservative, and we’ve been able to make end roads.” says Lucio.

“It’s in its infancy, and I think there’s going to be exponential growth and use of the Compassionate program in Texas in the next two to four years.”
