Democrats converged in Austin for a fundraiser in hopes of unseating republicans in the midterms. Hosted by the group Blue Action Democrats, the focus is on getting women into political office. Julie Oliver, who is running for a seat in the State House, tells Spectrum News she believes things would be very different if women ran the show, she also said to imagine what Congress would be like if we were legislating with the heart of a mother/ heart of a woman.
She and others are trying to capitalize on the so-called “blue wave” of democrats who have been angered by the Trump administration. Gubernatorial candidate Lupe Valdez was also in attendance.
