A math teacher at Bowie High School has been arrested over allegations she had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.
An arrest affidavit names that teacher as 23-year-old Erica Gomez.
According to that affidavit, the teen’s parents called 911 after discovering graphic sexual messages on his Snapchat account. After further digging, the teen’s parents recognized the woman as Gomez, who was the teen’s math tutor before becoming a teacher at Bowie.
The affidavit also states Gomez told police she first met the teen in January, but didn’t begin a sexual relationship with him until August. Their last encounter was on October 7, according to Gomez.
She has been charged with sexual assault of a child, a second degree felony. She is currently in the Travis County Jail with a bond set at $75,000.
