The Burnet Police Department is currently working an arson investigation involving a marked BPD Patrol unit parked at the police department.

While this investigation is still active and ongoing, video surveillance shows a man starting the fire, using what appears to be some type of accelerant, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, around 1:00am. After setting the fire, the can bee seen running from the scene, briefly returning to the fire, and then again running away as the fire burns; the fire ultimately self-extinguishes, causing damage to the unit.

Burnet Police Department Investigators have enlisted the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office and have asked people in the immediate vicinity to review their home surveillance systems to see if the suspect was captured in the area on video.
