The Leander school district still needs to fill 56 open bus driver positions. Director of Transportation Myron Wilson says they’ve had to use dispatchers, mechanics, and even something called “route sharing”, where drivers take on a portion of a second route along with their normal driving duties.
Wilson says there are 180 current bus routes, but that is expected to expand up to more than 200 as the district. Each bus carries 40-50 students.
