Caldwell County is trying to get a handle on its feral hog problem.
[The county kicked off a bounty program this month. In the first round, the program collected 482 hog tails and paid five dollars each for a total over $2400. Plum Creek Watershed officials applaud the program and over two tons of hog waste will not be in their watershed. The next collection is slated for Wednesday April 3rd.
The next round of hog tail collection will take place Wednesday April 3rd, where individuals can bring in feral hog tails and/or certified buying station receipts to Smith Supply Co., 1830 Colorado Street, Lockhart, between the hours of 12pm-3pm. Tails and/or receipts must be from feral hogs harvested in Caldwell County. Participants will be required to complete a W-9 and a participation form, which can be obtained at Smith Supply or from the Central Texas Feral Hog Task Force Website. The property owner’s name and contact information where the hogs were harvested are required on the form. |
