Capital Metro is breaking ground Monday on a new downtown rail station at 4th and Neches which, according to CEO Randy Clarke, will increase the flow of passengers while also increasing safety for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
The new station is scheduled to be up and running by 2021.
As the construction continues, the current rail station will be completely shut down.
