Central Texas COVID-19 Update for Monday, June 8, 2020

Labor Day Weekend Covid 19

BASTROP COUNTY:

Bastrop County continues to see the majority of its cases in the unincorporated areas. Officials say 151 of the 244 reported cases since March have come from the more rural parts of the county. Elgin continues to outpace all other cities with 75 cases. As of Monday morning, three people have died from COVID-19 and 95 have made recoveries.

COMAL COUNTY:

In total, 117 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported by Comal County, seven of which have resulted in death. But the county is seeing a big surge in recoveries, which is now up to 93. 3388 tests have been conducted, with 71 still pending results.

HAYS COUNTY:

Nearly 5000 coronavirus tests have been administered in Hays County, and of those, only 398 have ever come back as positive. And as of Monday, Hays health officials say only 160 are still active and 233 have recovered. Six people are currently hospitalized and five have died.

TRAVIS COUNTY:

The latest numbers from Austin Public Health show 35 new cases of coronavirus, bringing Monday morning’s total up to 3697. 97 people have died, but no deaths have been reported in more than 24-hours. Almost 3100 people have made recoveries. 87 are currently hospitalized.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY:

There is now a massive gap between Williamson County’s number of active and recovered coronavirus cases. As of Monday morning, the county say 162 cases are still active while 501 people have recovered from the virus. Only seven people are in the hospital for COVID-19 currently, four of whom are on a ventilator. Similar to virtually every county in Central Texas, hospital capacity has not faced any issues. 54-percent of the county’s hospital beds are currently available.
