Changes coming to 620 and Anderson Mill

CAMPO has set aside 25-million dollars for a major improvement to 620 in North West Austin.

TxDOT’s Diann Hodges said the intersection of 620 at Anderson Mill Rd is a major congestion point and the two roads will be grade separated. In this case that would mean taking the 620 lanes and building them under Anderson Mill Road. The intersection project is expected to break ground in 2023.
Hodges says TxDOT doesn’t have the ability to add lanes to the intersection right now, but other TxDot officials note an ongoing feasiblitity study of 620 between 2222 and 183, shows it needs a total of ten lanes it currently has 5. Officials beleive that means either building the roadway out or up, but which, and how it will be funded, has not been determined.
