City of Austin considers major plan to improve Walter E. Long Park

A parks board subcommittee considers a new master plan for Walter E. Long Park. The master plan, if completely built out, would be expensive, running 800-million dollars, but Park Development Coordinator Gregory Montes said that would take many years and be phased in little by little.

Montes also mentions that one idea is to make a few changes to the peninsula at Walter E. Long Lake.  Montes said that eventually they’ll look at new amenities, like a rowing facility.

If the subcommittee approves the plan then it would go to the full parks board later this month and the city council sometime in August.

Montes says if the plan is approved it would go to the full Parks Board later this month and to the City Council possibly by August.
