City warns of fake pay website

Power lines at sunset.

On Friday, a customer alerted the City of Austin Utilities Customer Care team to what appears to be an unauthorized payment site. The customer reached the site by accidentally typing in “itilities” when trying to manually go to www.coautilities.com. The site offers to pay all of your bills for a fee, without the customer having to visit individual sites to pay all their bills. However, the site is not an authorized payment site to make City of Austin utility payments.

The City warns customers to only pay their utility bills in the following ways:

  • Pay online. Visit www.coautilities.com to make an online payment (the pay your bill button austinenergy.com will redirect customers to coautilities.com)
  • Quick pay by phone or web. Call 1-800-375-4919 to make quick payments by phone or use Quick Payment at www.coautilities.com
  • Pay by mail – City of Austin, P.O. Box 2267, Austin, TX 78783-2267
  • Pay in person at a Utility Customer Service Center:
  • Utility Service Center (east branch) Rosewood-Zaragosa Center, 2800 Webberville Road, Suite 110, Austin, Texas 78702
  • Utility Customer Service Center (north branch), 8716 Research Blvd, Suite 115, Austin, Texas 78758 (near Ohlen Road and Highway 183)
  • Pay in person at an authorized pay station including most Austin H-E-B stores, ACE Cash Express, Money Box, Fiesta Mart and Randall’s

Customers with questions or concerns regarding these updates should contact the City of Austin Utilities Customer Care call center at 512-494-9400 or visit www.austinenergy.com for more information.
