After a few days of the 7-day moving average moving in and out and back into stage 5 on the COVID Risk chart, Area leaders announce they are elevating Austin and Travis County into Stage 5 restrictions.

That’s the highest the threat level goes. Speaking to media Wednesday Morning, Austin Travis County Health Authority Mark Escott says this means there is uncontrolled spread throughout the area, and he says that means you should consider anywhere you go outside of your home to be a risk. “It’s important to avoid non-essential travel, for gatherings or for other things outside if you don’t have to.”

Businesses are being asked to offer only curbside or delivery, restaurants are being asked to shutter all indoor dining and reduce patio capacity to 50-percent, retail is being asked to reduce capacity to 50-percent. Of course these are recommendations as the governor’s state mandate does supercede most local orders.
